Virginia Anne Latham
SAVANNAH – Virginia Anne "Jinny" Latham, 73, passed away, Saturday, February 18, 2012, at her home.
She was born in New Bedford, Mass, to the late Elmer Seaver Forsythe and Madelyn Irene Forsythe. Her grandfather was Allen Dale Currier, an artist, lecturer, and curator of Currier & Ives works. She was married to Thomas H. Latham on July 4, 1962.
She was a direct descendent of five of the original Mayflower settlers and a member of the Mayflower Society of Plymouth, Mass. and was quite proud of her Native American heritage.
She received a nursing degree in 1959 from the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, and later a BS Degree in Psychology from Upsala College in New Jersey.
She worked in head nursing in Telemetry units, child Psychiatric units, OB/GYN and was responsible for Joint Commission Reviews in various New Jersey hospitals.
After retiring and a move to Michigan, she took a volunteer position at a Center for Abused Women. In addition to getting women and children into a safe environment, she trained others to maintain the 24/7 crisis line.
She and Tom moved to The Landings in 1998 and she became involved in volunteer work such as The 100 where she served as President, TAG at the Telfair Museum and the Savannah Friends of Music. And Jinny found time to golf with friends.

In 1983, when I was 17, I stayed at the Lathams for 3 weeks in Holmdel NJ with an exchange program from The Netherlands. I still have very fond memories of the hospitality and friendliness I experienced at their house. Mrs. Latham made me feel at home. Years later, we met in Amsterdam. Afterwards we lost contact, but last year I got in touch with David trough Facebook; I was really looking forward to meeting Mrs. and Mr. Latham again and I am very sorry that I can't anymore. My thoughts go out to Mr. Latham, David and Beth and to other friens and family...
